Relay For Life of Barrington

What: |
The
Relay For Life celebrates life! Teams of 8-15
people take turns walking, running or strolling
around a high school track. A party atmosphere
prevails among team members camping out on the
surrounding grounds during the 12-hour event,
enjoying music, food and camaraderie with each
other. Money is raised through pledges that the
members of each team secure from individuals,
companies, or corporations. |

Why: |
To
raise $265,000 to support research, education,
and patient services in celebration of cancer
survivorship in Illinois. |

Who: |
Teams of individuals representing businesses,
clubs, organization, neighborhoods and families.
Since this is a non-competitive event, anyone
can participate. |

To
Enter: |
Registration is $25 per team. Participants are
encouraged to raise $100 per person in
donations. |

Event Highlights: |
-
Luminaria service: Bagged candles are lit
around the track in memory of loved ones who
lost their battle to cancer or in honor of
cancer survivors. Held on June 11, 2004 at
10:00pm.

Cancer Control: Special education programs
provided by volunteers.

Survivor’s Lap: Cancer survivors invited to
join in our celebration of life and dedication
to the spirit of survivorship by participating
in a special “Survivors Lap” on June 11, 2004
at 6:00pm.
